In view of the impending danger of COVID-19, the Government of Manipur had announced 2 days curfew in all districts of Manipur 20th March 2020. On 22nd March 2020, the prime Minister of India had declared to observe Janata Curfew to stay inside homes. The next day the PM again announced total shutdown all over India for 21 more days. On 14th April 2020, the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India has announced National Lock-down to be extended further up to 3rd May 2020 in view of increasing pandemic situation. Thus, the whole state of Manipur had been shut down for almost 20 days. As a part of the preventive and precautionary measure, the state Government imposed strict lock-down and curfew in the entire state, with the exemption of few essential services. Over and above the on-going National Lock-down, the Government of Manipur has declared curfew all over the state to tightened security to maintain strict rules to stay at home by the general peoples. The police forces had beaten up peoples disobeying the curfew. So, nobody cannot move here and there. During these days, the people of Manipur are facing many hardships like shortage of Food items, drinking water, fuels like cooking gas etc. This affects 3.6 lakhs are landless labourers more, because they are living hand to mouth.
From the initial stage of National Shutdown started, we form a Rapid task force (RTF) of 10 persons. Our primary initiative is to sensitize about the danger of COVID-19 and necessary steps to protect from the disease. So far, we distributed about 10,000 nos. of mask, 1500 bags of rice, 150 kgs. of dals, 150 liters of Mustard oil also with our meagre resources of fund. On 28 March 2020, we distributed only 50 Kgs. of Rice, 10 Kgs. of Potato and 10 Litres of Mustard Oil to the 11 persons of Blind, who are staying in a blind home run by Welfare Association for the Blinds, Manipur.
